The Pike County School Food Service Department prepares and serves over 10,000 school meals per day.  We see our role in education is to provide all Pike County students with the proper nutritional support needed for appropriate physical and intellectual growth and development in a clean and friendly environment.  School meals prepared in our cafeterias meet the nutritional standards and meal pattern requirements of the National School Lunch and Nationals School Breakfast Programs, the United States Department of Agriculture and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

School lunches provide 1/3 of the recommended dietary allowance for school-age children.  Menus include whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables with specifications in preparation to lower sodium, reduce fat, and sugar in school meals.  Pike County School Food Service operates under the "Offer vs. Serve" option in which students are allowed to select three, four, or five of the required lunch components.  School Food Service personnel encourage children to select a complete lunch daily.

Like all school lunch programs, the Pike County School Food Service operates separately within the Pike County School System.  School food service programs depend on the revenues generated from the meals that are served each day.  Such programs are not allocated funding from the school district itself.
