Congratulations to Phelps Elementary
2017
National Title I Distinguished School
2017-2018
In 1994, with the new re-authorization bill, Title I changed drastically nationwide. Recognizing and taking advantage of these changes, Title I personnel in Pike County have made great strides in addressing the educational needs of the students. With the implementation of "Every Child Succeeds Act", Title I will once again make adjustments. With a great awareness and understanding of these adjustments, we will continue to make great advances toward helping all students in reaching their full potential.Working in all content areas, parent involvement, and technology, the students have proven that Title I is working and that all students can learn at a high level. For fiscal year 2017-2018, Title I will be funding 11 Schoolwide Projects. Funding is relative to the school's ranking for low-income enrollment based upon Direct Certification. Schools served must be funded in ranking order from highest to lowest percentage. Each school embedds their Title I Schoolwide components within their Comprehensive School Improvement Plan. Title I, Part A funds are utilized to implement an effective parental involvement program with a goal of increasing active parent involvement in all schools. Thorough evaluation of how projects use guidelines and regulations is considered before the plans are approved. Facing the challenge of funding health insurance costs, salary increases, etc., the major budgetary focus became maintaining programs in each of our elementary schools. Each of the 11 Schoolwide Projects are able to maintain their programs and personnel.
