Introducing Mr. Bob Thompson -- UNITE Drug Counselor

Mr. Bob Thompson graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1999.  He attended Pikeville College and graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology in 2003.  In 2005 he earned his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration at Tiffin University, a private college located in Tiffin, Ohio.  Upon receiving his Master's Degree, he was hired to become a professor of Criminal Justice and Sociology at Pikeville College where he taught undergraduate students for a total of three years.  During this time, he was also employed as the Program Coordinator of the Juvenile Drug Court Program for the Administrative Office of the courts.  In this position, Mr Thompson gained considerable experience working with Pike County youth and their families in dealing with the drug and alcohol epidemic.  After almost five years with Juvenile Drug Court the program closed its doors due to state budget restraints.  Mr. Thompson left this position in August of 2010, but was then hired by Pike County Schools as the new UNITE counselor.  He is currently located at Northpoint Academy where he spends his time counseling youth and families who may be at risk or who currently struggle with drug and alcohol issues.  To this end, he is preparing himself to take the Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor exam (CADC).  This is a prestigious certification that many counselors fail to receive.  Mr. Thompson has been happily married to Paula Thompson since July of 2003.  They have two sons, Dylan age five and Kaiden age one.
