PRINCIPALS' PAW PRINT
Susan Patton, Assistant Principal
Greetings to all of our students, parents, grandparents, and guardians from JCS. We wanted to take the opportunity through this newsletter to greet each one of you individually and share some of the exciting opportunities taking place at our great school.
Throughout this school year, we have all been working diligently to attain our highest levels of academic achievement yet. The teachers have planned many fun, enjoyable activities for our students, and we are looking forward to each day as another opportunity for success.
Please read on for more school-home related information, and as always, thank you for your continued support.
JCS VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
First, I would like to thank our many volunteers that have given so much of their time this school year, and we would like to encourage others to become involved at our school. If you would like to learn more about becoming a volunteer, please contact Mrs. Patton.
How to Become a School Volunteer

Participate in a confidentiality and volunteer training session
As many of you know, JCS works to make home learning opportunities available for our students. Again this school year, we are excited to be able to offer Study Island. Study Island is an Internet-based program that provides lesson reviews with explanations and example problems in the content areas of reading, math, science, social studies, practical living, and arts and humanities. The availability of Study Island at home and our school provides a valuable learning opportunity for our students and allows parents to become very familiar with the skills and concepts taught at school. Students enjoy playing the games on Study Island, and we of course, enjoy that our students are learning while playing. A thorough lesson review is available by clicking on the blue word "Lesson." Feel free to review with your child
BRAIN POP AND BRAIN POP, JR.
Parents, I would like to tell you about another wonderful educational resource we have made available for JCS students, Brain POP and Brain POP, Jr. With parental permission, students can log online to www.brainpop.com or www.brainpopjr.com. This site offers short instructional videos (approximately 3-5 minutes) on a variety of topics. Activities for students, experiments, and quizzes are also available for practice.
Thank you for your continued support.
